PATROLS

Tannum Sands Surf Life Saving Club is always looking for committed volunteers to become a life saver and patrol our beautiful beach. When you become a life saver, you are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to save a life. The course incorporates basic first aid, swimming and fitness, beach safety and marine theory to prepare you for a number of situations you might encounter both on and away from the beach.

NIPPERS

Nippers is a fun way for children aged 5 to 15 to enjoy the beach in a safe environment. The Junior Development Program is designed to ensure children have fun at the beach while participating in lessons that will give them a pathway to becoming a fully rounded participant in both lifesaving and sport.

To join Tannum SLSC Nippers for the 2023/2024 Season, children must be 6 years old as of 30th September 2023.

Our Nipper season starts in September 2023 and will run through until March 2024. For any general nipper inquiries please contact our club secretary using the "Contact Us" section on the home page.

CADETS

The Cadet Program operates for those aged in the Under 14 to Under 17 Age Group.  This program operates to provide cadets the opportunity for training, carnival participation, surf lifesaving (patrols), course and leadership development and social activities.  Not only is surf lifesaving a learning and participation organisation, it is one where you will meet and make friendships that will last a life-time.

EDUCATION

Successful lifesaving is accomplished through volunteer lifesavers having specific and up to date skills and knowledge.  Lifesavers apply these skills and knowledge to provide prevention, promotion and protection. At Tannum surf club we provide introductory, standard and high level training in the use of lifesaving equipment and advanced emergency care resources that enhances the lifesavers ability to provide support to the community, while maintaining and developing their own skills. Many of the courses delivered are nationally accredited which provides opportunities for the knowledge and skills gained through lifesaving to be used for gaining or maintaining employment outside of the lifesaving movement.
